EXTREMA OUTDOOR BELGIUM 2012

Yes, 2012 is the year of changes. As Extrema Outdoor changes course in the Netherlands, Belgium follows suit. Straight ‘Into the new’! To give you a first impression, we’ll shed some light on what to expect this year.
For starters, XO is short for Extrema Outdoor so our edition this year will be known as XO Belgium 2012. An edition with some novelties at that. Just like last year, you will be able to enjoy the main event on Saturday from 11am till 11pm. That’s twelve straight hours of beachside partying with the best music underground house, tech-house and techno have to offer.

XO being XO, we will yet again be spending a lot of attention to detail, decoration, location, performance and of course, you, our visitor. Extrema Outdoor is known and loved for these little extras, and that will be no different this year. Expect lots of performances and theatre, show and entertainment. A full-on festival experience that tickles all your senses, not just those ears.

New this year is the incorporation of the beach into XO, on Saturday but also on Friday. Yep that’s right, there will be a proper XO Beach Party on Friday August 10 to get you all warmed up for our main event. For those of you who don’t live near the festival and like to join us for two days, we’ve got the perfect solution too: an all new XO Camping. You can spend Friday and Saturday night on the campsite right next to the festival.

CIRCOLOCO AT WOODSTOCK69

This summer, WLC invites Circoloco to the lovely Woodstock69. Circoloco is one of the most notorious concepts Ibiza has to offer. Every Monday hedonistic clubbers from all over the world gather here to party in the carnivalesque atmosphere that is Circoloco. Party season on the white isle will soon enough start again, but that doesn’t stop Circoloco from paying us another visit with its iconic party.

Headlining this 3rd of June are Tale of Us, a formation whose music and productions are a mixture of new sounds and genres ranging from pop to house, nu/disco to rock with everything in between. Their debut album came out on ‘Visionquest’ (label of Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves & Lee Curtiss) after multiple releases on labels such as ‘Barraca Music’, ‘Cocoon’ and ‘Life & Death’. Their remix on ‘Life & Death’ (Thugfucker – Disco Gnome), has seen them achieve much praise, airplay and success in record sales. Not to mention their remix for Audiofly’s Six Degrees:

Labyrinth Artist and Circoloco resident Andrew Grant is supporting Tale Of Us on the line-up. The time spent touring the world’s best clubs and playing alongside the world’s best DJ’s has helped him to gain a reputation for being one of the most solid and consistent performing DJ’s in the world of electronic music. Alongside touring the world with Circoloco and his DC10 Ibiza residency, Andrew has actively pursued his production career since 2001 with releases on labels such as Barraca Music, Plastic City, Connect Four, Little Helpers, Fade Records, Unfoundsound, Siteholder Records, Isgud Records, Minisketch and Regular.

This is already a killer line-up but Labyrinth wouldn’t be Labyrinth if we didn’t throw in a little extra for you guys. Being into club music since it’s tender age, Shonky graced the decks of a club for the first time in 1998 inspired by djs like Dan Ghenacia or Ivan Smagghe. Since then he’s been regular in key parisian clubs like La Scene, Le Rex ou Le Nouveau Casino. His international pedigree includes Fabric in London, Panorama Bar in Berlin, Fuse in Belgium, Weetamix in Geneva and many more. Since his first production on FreaK ‘n Chic in 2005, he has now released at Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, Sub Static and Resopal.

Joining these heavyweights on the line-up is one of Belgium’s most experienced DJ’s. WLC’s loyal resident Tofke knows how to handel the Woodstock crowd as he has been playing all over the globe for more than 30 years now. His technical skills and taste in music will leave you bazzled on the dancefloor.

So we heard you guys are really looking forward to a new Labyrinth Showcase? Well we sure still have fond memories of our 2011 showcase at Woodstock69 so we’ve got some good news! On May 27, Labyrinth Productions returns to the most famous beach of the Netherlands for our 2012 Labyrinth Showcase

Headliners are our two Italian Stallions Santos & Alex Dolby. Santos is known to be a talented producer whose creativity seems to know no bounds. His quirky 2000 breakthrough track ‘Camels’ remains an unforgettable classic. In the years that passed since, he’s released several acclaimed EP’s and and of course the huge anthem ‘Hold Home’. Santos can add Nic Fanciulli’s Saved, John Digweed’s Bedrock, Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour, Get Physical, Figures, VIVa, Crosstown Rebels, Germany’s Great Stuff and many more to his repertoire.
Come 2012, Santos was featured on the DJ Mag cover and is still getting great feedback on his album “If You Have Meat”.

Although his name would imply a more Anglican decent, Alex Dolby’s story begins in the beautiful countryside of Ciociaria in central Italy. Inspired equally by Italian house legends like Massimino Lippoli, Flavio Vecchi and Ricky Montanari combined with leading artists like Sasha, Steve Lawler and Danny Tenaglia, it didn’t take long for Alex to set up his own studio start making music. His sound can be described as a combination of house, progressive, breakbeat and tech although his recent productions are underpinned by a deep techno groove. Santos once remarked, “You know where an Alex Dolby track starts but you never know where it’s going to end”. The same applies for his DJ sets, which sweep from house to techno. An appropriate comment to describe the work of one of dance music’s true individuals.

Joining Alex and Santos is one of Labyrinth’s Belgian/Turkish talents Ugur Yurt. He’s the perfect guy to complete this line-up with his endless energy behind the decks. The Woodstock crowd has already proven to love his sound in the past. Hot tip: he’s got a new EP coming on Creamminal Records soon so be prepared for some fresh grooves!

Labyrinth Productions presents Manifest w/ Adam Beyer at Café d’Anvers

This year Manifest made a spectacular start with John Digweed, Onur Ozer, Sis, Solomun and DJ Sneak. For its second to last edition before summer break, Labyrinth Productions invites Adam Beyer for his very first time to Café d’Anvers. Save the date: Saturday 26 May.

Adam Beyer became dedicated to the fascinating world of rhythm early on; after playing the drums as a teenager his obsession turned to the decks. He sites Planet Rhythm (1995) as the first record to define his style; hard, percussive and loop oriented. This 12″ was soon followed by his critically acclaimed debut album Decoded. His need to create the perfect DJ tool gave rise to the launch of the Drumcode label allowing him total musical freedom. The label´s strong concept and high production levels meant it enjoyed immediate success. Beyer has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, which has quite literally shaken the world since the mid-nineties. From the driving percussive force of his Drumcode label to the more open electronic miasma on his current Truesoul and Mad Eye imprints, Beyer remains one of the biggest and most influential producer/DJs on the planet.

Supporting Adam Beyer on the line-up are three Labyrinth Artists: Tomaz, Tofke and Ugur Yurt. Tomaz did a great job warming up for Solomun at one of our previous Manifest editions so we’ve invited our Belgian techno legend to play alongside the Swedish one. Tofke and Ugur Yurt have been in the game for quite some years now but their unique and energetic performances keeps it fresh time and time again.

Our talented Labyrinth Artist VJ Turboslow will provide the party with some amazing visuals.

Labyrinth Productions presents Peoples w/ Art Department @ Café d’Anvers

PEOPLES W/ ART DEPARTMENT

On 16th May 2012, Labyrinth Productions invites the Canadian hype “Art Department” to Café d’Anvers!

Art Department is the brainchild of Canadian techno/house legend Kenny Glasgow and Canada’s fastest rising star and No.19 label owner – Jonny White. As individuals both Kenny and Jonny have released countless critically acclaimed records and are regarded internationally as two of the most forward thinking producers out of North America. The pair, despite being close friends and stalwarts in the Toronto electronic music scene for years, had not joined forces in the studio until only as recently as 2009, when Damian Lazarus called on them to remix Riz MC for his prestigious Crosstown Rebels Label. The two went working full time in the studio to expand upon what they had created but now with a new focus… the concept for Art Department was to create a live dj/vocal performance based on the new sound they were beginning to produce and would feature Kenny Glasgow’s unique and sublime vocals that had been heard 10+ years earlier on records like “Pressing On”. It wasn’t long before Damian heard what the pair had been working on and immediately offered them a deal with Crosstown Rebels that would include several singles, remixes and a full-length album.

Second international guest of the evening is Arado! This rising star is part of the Labyrinth Family and we’re very happy about that! It all started with his his “Uganda Express“ release, that got signed by Loco Dice for his Desolat label. Following this acclaimed release came other outstanding productions on labels such as All Inn and Dame Music, which ultimately led to several EP’s on Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour Recordings. His track “Strange Neighbors” with Marco Faraone on Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour is a perfect example of how much this producer has grown to the globally acknowledged producer he is today.

Completing the line-up is our own Ugur Yurt and as we all know; he never disappoints.
